The Bad
There are other issues: Graphical tearing, frame-rate drops, enemies' arms sticking through barriers as they magically shoot through walls, and so forth. The stuff you'd expect, basically, from a lot of video games these days.
I'm really happy I opted to play Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 on PC. On PS4, the game's load times are out of control. Upwards of five minutes can pass between loads on console, making the early days of Bloodborne somehow look good. Thank goodness it's a little bit faster on a beefy gaming PC. But even there the load times can be a bit painful. I realize it's important to have patience as a sniper, but there are limits.
The entire production feels very much like Far Cry: Sniper Edition. The open-world filled with points on the map, the skill tree, the foreigner in a strange land come to save the day. I'm not far in yet, but overall I wish they'd left the story more bare-bones and focused entirely on missions. This is where things get good, after all.
The Good
The sniping in Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is quite good. Many missions play out as infiltrations of one sort or another. Find an enemy outpost, tag the enemies with your scope or drone, then proceed to take them out as quietly as possible. If you fail, either go in guns blazing or hide and make another go of it when they decide that you're gone.
On a side note, I long for the day when games no longer rely on this sort of alarm mechanic. If I was a murderous villain guarding an outpost and someone started sniping my fellow thugs, I wouldn't just go back to business as usual moments later when we couldn't track down our assailant. I'd be on high alert. I'd call in backup and stay put until they arrived.
I'd like to see games go much further with this, with enemies trying to save their wounded allies, or falling back to really secure defensive positions that required extra ingenuity from players. The alarm level wouldn't just subside in a few minutes, it would remain high until back up arrived or you took everyone out. Imagine playing a sniper game where you could intentionally wound an enemy just to draw out his compatriots. Pretty sadistic, but also pretty cool.
In any case, while sniping is fun and fairly deep, involving various zoom levels and adjustments for factors like distance, you can also play up close and personal with a variety of secondary weapons and melee take-downs. This is all great fun. I really enjoy taking over enemy bases in Far Cry and it's great here, too, only with lots more sniper gameplay. I also enjoy the bullet-time when you land a perfect headshot. Your bullet swoops and zooms toward the bad guy and you see it plunge through their skull in gory detail, blood spraying as they crumple and fall. You can turn it off if you want.
That's a nice, gory touch, but overall I think the graphics are pretty good. Nothing special, by any means, but not bad either. There's some very pretty moments, but these days good graphics offer diminishing returns. The game runs pretty well on my machine for the most part, bugs aside, with settings cranked to the max. (I run a GTX 1080 GPU alongside an Intel i7-6700k CPU.)
All told, I would have preferred CI Games to focus more on creating great missions and a more polished experience rather than an open-world with expensive cinematics. Then again, I still have a lot of game left. Early impressions can be deceiving. It's entirely possible that the open-world and story will surprise me down the road. I'm just not holding my breath.
Well, okay, I am holding my breath, but only because it helps stabilize my next shot..
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 launches today on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. I'd wait for a sale. If you like sniping games, there's plenty to like here. But it's still something I'd hold off buying until the price falls.

All collectible locations
Search the indicated locations to find all 31 collectibles (8 Historic Rifles and 23 Things From The Past) and get the 'No Stone Left Unturned' achievement. You also unlock two other achievements for finding 25% and 50% of all available collectibles. None of the collectibles are missable. You can still get them all after completing the story. After the last mission, the game places you back in free roam mode so you can keep working on achievements. To view the collectibles you have found, pause the game and select 'Journal', then 'Collectibles'. They are all listed with a unique name so it is easy to see which ones are missing and which ones have been found. The collectible locations get marked on the map when you are close to them. After picking up the collectible, the icon will disappear from the world map. The collectibles are placed in your safe house as decorations. The historic rifles cannot be used as weapons; they are just decorations for your safe house.
Mining Town
Village
Dam
Simply fly your drone into a mine to get the 'Blown Up' achievement. There is a mine field at the following location (27.43;13.77 coordinates) in the 'Dam' region. You reach this region automatically later in the game.
Easy 'Long Shot' and 'Marksman' achievements
First, buy and equip a x10 scope in the safe house. This can be done after the first story mission. 2018 fifa world cup final. Interact with the weapon cache in the safe house to buy and attach the scope. In the game options, enable 'Aim Assistance' and 'Sniper Red Dot Aim Helper'. While holding your breath, it will display a small yellow dot. This dot marks where the bullet will hit. The dot turns red when it is going to hit an enemy. Go to the location in the video, lie down, aim at the enemy, and hold your breath. Point the aim helper at the enemy's head and shoot. You may want to stand very close to your screen to see the head. If you do not get the 'Long Shot' and 'Marksman' achievements, quit out to the main menu and select 'Continue'. It will make the enemies respawn (but only if you have not cleared out the entire enemy base).
Easy 'Point Blank' achievement
Sneak up to an enemy from behind (unnoticed) and kill him with a shot from the sniper rifle from three feet or less to get the 'Point Blank' achievement. Once the takedown/interrogation prompt appears, you should be close enough. This works well on lone enemies such as snipers. It can also be done on the first two enemies in the prologue.
Easy 'Treasure Island' achievement
On the right side of the open world map, there is a big lake (far east and about halfway up the map) at the following location. The second biggest island in the middle of the lake contains a large box. Loot this box to get the 'Treasure Island' achievement. You can go there at any time after completing the prologue.
Easy 'Triple Kill' achievement
The best place to kill three enemies with one bullet is Daitbora Estate, an enemy base on the 'Mining Town' map. It is very close to your safe house, to the southwest of it (coordinates: 25.11;20.70) at the following location. If you have already cleared out the camp, fast travel to a different map (Village/Dam -- they are unlocked later in the story) and the enemies will respawn. Three enemies are guarding the entrance to a building. Two of them are walking around a little bit and they always meet up every 60 seconds or so. A third one is standing still behind them. Wait for the two enemies to stand close together, line up the third and kill them all with one headshot. If you have armor piercing ammo (unlocked later in the story), you can do a body shot. If you fail, let the enemies kill you and they will respawn. Alternately, lure the enemies together by throwing stones, with the drone's lure module, luring bullets, or with a decoy trap. There are many ways to lure enemies. The enemies at Daitbora Estate have scripted movement so they will always work.

Sniper Ghost Warrior is set on the fictitious South American island of Isla Trueno, where a despotic military regime lead by the ruthless General Vasquez has overthrown its democratic government to seize control. As one of a group of covert commandos, the player is charged with infiltrating the rebel stronghold and overthrowing the unelected powerbase. Intelligence reports indicate that Vasquez is due to chair a meeting with his cohorts in an old refinery facility, and a government plant is in place to set up an assassination opportunity for the crack unit. But as the unit arrive on the island, it soon becomes clear that the plan has gone awry, and the team must adapt and use their combat skills if they are to complete the mission.
Realism is at the heart of Sniper Ghost Warrior, and the game enjoys a truly realistic ballistic system that accounts for the distance of a shot, fall-off of the bulletâs trajectory, and environmental factors, such as wind direction. Similarly, the lush jungle environments, allow the user to use the cover of the foliage to take out key targets, while other members of your squad can act as âspottersâ to detail the positions of key adversaries. Players must also manage the breathing of their sniper to provide a more accurate shot, while the gameâs âBullet Camâ system offers stunning close-ups as the bullets thud into their unsuspecting targets. The mission spans 16 stages, starting with the problematic assassination attempt at the refinery, and moving on to oilrigs, a mine, the coast, and a set of ruins as the gameâs plot continually surprises. Each level is brought to vivid life with the many rustles of the jungle keeping the player in a constant state of alert, and the sniper elements mixed with incredible firefights, as the enemy break cover and the squad is forced to engage in open combat. Sniper Ghost Warrior represents a clever take on the military simulation genre, and also allows users to hone their sniper skills in a series of unique multi-player modes, wherein up to 16 players can compete simultaneously.
